Dear Parents -
Next week is National Family Involvement Week. In honor of this, we are conducting our annual school-wide Turkey Trot during your child’s PE time on Friday, November 22nd. We are inviting you to come to the elementary track and walk laps with your child during their scheduled PE time. For every lap that each person in your family walks, your child will receive a point. The child with the most points in each grade level at the end of the day will be receiving prizes. For example, if one parent and child each walk 4 laps during the PE time, that child will receive 8 points. If two parents and the child walk 4 laps during the PE time, the child will receive 12 points. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other significant adults OVER THE AGE OF 18 AND OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL in the child’s life may all participate. If you choose to walk with all of your children that attend Anderson-Shiro Elementary at the same time on this day, only the child who has PE during that designated time’s points will count towards the prizes. If you walk with each of your children during their designated times, you are eligible for each grade level’s prizes.
On the day of the Turkey Trot, please meet your child down at the school track. Grade level times are listed below:
3rd grade: 8:00-8:45
5th grade: 8:45-9:30
4th grade: 9:30-10:15
2nd grade: 10:15-11:00
1st grade: 11:00-11:45
Prizes are listed below. In case of a tie for the number of laps at any of the prize levels, all eligible students’ names will be placed in a drawing to determine the winner.
- Grand Prize Winner for the Whole School - $50 gift card to go towards Thanksgiving Meal
- 1st Place in each grade level - a frozen turkey
IF YOU CHOOSE TO TAKE YOUR CHILD HOME ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT AFTER THE TURKEY TROT, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THEM OUT IN THE FRONT OFFICE THAT DAY. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM DIRECTLY FROM THE TRACK.
We are very excited about this event and we hope to see you there. If you have any questions, please call the school at (936) 873-4525.
