Anderson-Shiro CISD Update: Please watch the video at this link or read the transcript below...

April 9, 2020

Greetings Owl Family,

First of all, I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter and hope each of you is doing well.

I have a few points I want to make in this announcement.

Tomorrow is Good Friday, and a school holiday, the staff will not be available to answer academic questions.  Monday, April 13 is listed as a Bad Weather Day on our district calendar; however, this is a school day since we canceled school the week after spring break at the beginning of the virus outbreak.  Our staff will be available by their normal contact point.

AS staff has continued to work diligently over the past week to prepare for the continuation of  “at home school instruction” for each of your classes. Beginning this Monday, April 13, you will notice correspondence from your teacher(s) which will include possible new materials to learn.  As part of the state guidelines, we are required to continue to teach the Texas Essential Knowledge of Skills or TEKS, for the remainder of the time we are not at the school building. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not know exactly when we will return to the classroom but as required by law, ASCISD will continue to provide academic instruction for every student.  So what does this mean exactly? The state IS requiring every student to complete the academic work that is being provided. ALL students PK-12 will receive some sort of grade depending on your grade level or class. For example: At Elementary PK - 1st graders will continue with Academic Standards scores, 2nd - 5th grade will use a E (Excellent), P (Proficient), N (Needs Improvement), or U (Unsatisfactory) grade for each class.  For 6th - 12th graders numeric grades will be given as usual. Reminder for all 6th - 12th graders you must complete the work provided to gain your second-semester credits as needed for promotion and graduation. Additional clarification will be provided asap on the ASCISD website.

Academic and Meal deliveries will continue on Monday, April 13 at the satellite locations as noted below.

8:30 am - 9:15 am = Independence Cemetery, Singleton, and DNR

9:30 am - 10:15 am = Shiro Feed, M-Beaux’s, and Anderson Baptist Church

11:00 am - 1:00 pm = Secondary Campus

****Last week AS provided over 2800 meals for our students and we hope to continue to provide this service.  Please stay in your vehicles when possible and follow each site's directions. We also remind you if you are sick, running a fever or have had a fever, please DO NOT come to the locations and allow someone else to pick up the materials for you.

We appreciate each of our school families continuing to stay safe and follow the guidelines of social distancing to limit the exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
